Oklahoma Arts Council Major Grant Support

Internal Deadline:
Fri, December 01 2017 - 5:00 pm
Funding Agency Deadline:
Thu, February 15 2018
Program Description:

The Major Grant Support program for Fiscal Year 2019 will open in early January 2018 with all applications due no later than February 15, 2018.

Oklahoma Arts Council grants ensure individuals statewide have access to the arts. A majority of the agency's budget is invested directly in to Oklahoma communities in the form of grants, and more than 40 percent of the agency's grant funding supports arts and arts education programming in rural areas. Communities throughout the state benefit from Oklahoma Arts Council grants, which have a powerful multiplying effect, generating $6 for every $1 granted.

OSU is eligible to submit one Major Grant application that can include up to five separate projects.  Projects may include a mix of Arts Learning in Communities, Community Arts or Arts Education Programs.  Attached is a document that discusses OAC’s three funding categories, outlines costs and expenses that OAC can and cannot fund, and identifies some basic grant application review considerations.  Each grant requires a 1:1 cash match.

Since FY2010, the Oklahoma Arts Council has experienced consecutive years of budget reductions, resulting in a decrease of 43% in state appropriations. Please be advised that the Oklahoma Arts Council anticipates a reduction in FY19 state appropriations as reports indicate that all appropriated state agencies will likely face reductions next fiscal year.  In response to reduced grant funds, the Oklahoma Arts Council board established the following as agency priorities: arts education, geographic reach, and access for underserved populations.  Funding decisions and award amounts depend on the amount of funding the Oklahoma Arts council receives from state and federal appropriations.
